Welcome To The Panhandle

Welcome to the OPREC web site.

The Oklahoma Panhandle Research & Extension Center (OPREC) consists of 550 acres of irrigated, limited-irrigated, and dryland research.

Located in the semi-arid zone of the Oklahoma Panhandle, focus of research has been on Wheat, Corn, Grain Sorghum, Sunflowers, Canola, Safflower, and Bermuda Grass.  With an eye toward the future, Bio-mass studies for Bio-mass Ethonal production are being conducted at the OPREC as well.  Research and demonstration plots have also been established in conjunction with both the seed and farm chemical companies to evaluate their newest products.

Additionally, many tours, field days, and producer meetings are held at OPREC, including the annual Crop Production Clinic, where highlights of research conducted at OPREC are compiled into books and made available to attendees.

The Oklahoma Panhandle Research & Extension Center serves the agricultural producers of the High Plains.
